26=09=2010=Saatchi

This afternoon, I went to Saatchi Gallery. So cold and windy outside, but this was my first impression of London.
"Bank"
Transfered at Monument and then take the District line to Sloan Square. Then, here I am, Saatchi.
"Saatchi"
I arrived at 4.15pm, quite late and stayed till the closure at 6 pm.
So today I haven't got enough time to explore the deep meaning of every artwork and only have the chance to browse around. But I don't felt very regrettable cuz this is also a good chance to face directly artists' works and try to enface their impact,to receive their first impression.
Sometimes when I go to watch exhibition, when I encountered a work that I haven't saw before, and when beside that work there is explanation, I always read that explanation just like call help.
Sometimes I even read that before I glance the work.
This bad habitude just come from the fear of can't understand the work or lots of unnecessary pre-doubts.
So, without that time to read explanation in the brochure and just enface the works directly, bravely, innocently.
This is also a great experience for me.
Then I'll paste some of my favorite pieces.
Because of these are chosen by my instinct so it's really hard to explain why I love them.
Perhaps try next time,it's too late now.

It's a series, and I think Gallery should put them closer to tighten their seriality.
The usage of Colour was bold and impressive especially when they are together.

Except this interesting idea, also, see, These two portraits were printed in china and for Chinese people.
When I was in primary school, this kind of portraits can be seen everywhere but now it became really rare so it has special meaning to me.

Really love this one!
I simply like that sense of space and the colour made me imagine temples in Greece.

works related to book always attract me.
Look those book's cover, really cute!

This artist apparently influenced by the impressionism, but she painted in that kind of pungent fluorescent colour.
The effect is impressive.

This artist's works help a lot to develop ideas of Vis com, if I visited this exhibition two weeks before...
This installation is absolutely amazing and shocking!
It exerts a giant pressure on audience by its special aura from the first sight/hearing.
It radiate its aura by the everlasting noisy/silent voice and its enormous shadow.
Behind its scary appearance, there is a pianola which works extremely slow but attentive.
Also the tune is changed from its original notes, but as cracked note create from hundreds of speakers, audience still try to find its weak relation between each vibrance.

not a part of exhibition but still interesting

the shadow seems like been drew by charcoal on the table

Saatchi Gallery's space itself made me jealous.
Saatchi is really great and I'll come back again before the second part of this exhibition start.

Also found an interesting advertisement.

Spoons, Plates and Chopsticks made the kitchen into a garden.
Just found this useful to develop my project of 3D spatial so~

Ok, time for bed, see you next time!

21=09=2010

I love 3D spatial course...
I'm not sure why, but apparently I can draw now, draw a lot, draw the environment around you. Plus I'm interested in interior design.

And I discovered I fall in love with photography...SudDenlY!

Daido Moriyama, 森山大道, I love his philosophy---a stray dog...
I checked UAL library for his books, they are mainly at CSM's library, well, I'm going to have look.
especailly Farewell Photography, I'm curious about it.

I think, London should be a ideal place for street snap. I'll try.

Yesterday, I went to Tate to practice sketching...

I think this really helps me.
And the experience was inspiring.

And this afternoon, I went to Tate again.

I sit on the ground
so the fight plane becomes giant.
comparing made me shy to show my work
but...

Tomorrow is the chinese traditional festival
Mid-autumn
中秋
It's a special day that every family reunion and admire the most perfect moon in whole year.
This is my first lonely Mid-autumn.
So I think I should go home early to skype with my parents
I miss them so much
Happy Mid-Autumn Festival to everyone away from sweet sweet home

Whole day Tate!

This is the first time since I came to London that I visit Tate Britain, it was really amazing and full of treasure to discover, I'm going certainly spend more and more time there!
the zoopraxiscope

First target was Eadweard Muybridge's special exhibition, before I went to that exhibition, I don't know how large this strange-named man's influence is."just prove when a horse is running, the for hooves are leaving ground..."Big no no! (Of course no) In my conclusion, I think firstly, generally, Muybridge's animal locomotion photos provide a vivid and accurate model to refer for scientists and artistes who have difficulty to understand how animals moves in a long term time and zoopraxiscope which shocked all society even all Europe (I remember clearly I red in a old book which is in the exhibition and a press wrote:"If Micheal Angelo, Raphael etc were still alive, they will certainly travel all Europe and come to see this master piece!"when I red this phrase, I laughed but through this I can imagine at that era how this zoopraxisope  shock the whole society). Then specifically, Francis Bacon seems affected a lot from his work and the famous nude woman descending stairs of Duchamp is also inspired by the locomotion of Muybridge.

So now I understand why Muybridge  can has his exhibition in Tate Britain, I mean really he is not only a photographer(Of course not!)

Plus I really love the idea that on the wall of introduction, the glass and the grid background makes audience became a part of Muybridge's experiment!
I understood its meaning when I finished the whole tour.
I took 1h30min and still not feeling I discovered all, maybe another day I can revise this superb exhibition once more!

Then, I roam toward upstairs...WoW Tate is really Giant(Of course!). Till its closure I visited some little room of modern art. What I interested in the most is the room about constructivism art.
I think this will helps me a lot in the next subject---3D spatial, cuz I really haven't the conception of space in my brain, it's too abstract to me, I always have the difficulty to solve spatial problems like things in Mathematics...so I just think this room is a very good example to explain How artists express 3D conception in their way.

Look at this work, What it inspired me is that why I feel so difficult to understand 3D..It is because we always tend to express our mind in a flat plane, like on the paper or canvas ...but these kind of works has  its considering about the space. it means the artist should think about when an audience look at this work, from every angle, what will be the impression, the compact exerts to him!!! of course, the sculptures, the installations will all have this point to consider, so I should exercise myself to remember this difference and try to think about it every time!

Well, this is what I gained today, really a day full of harvest and surprise! And Really happy to be a chelsea student~not only the school itself, its neighbour too, we can get into the 10pounds-worth special exhibition for free and just 0.5min walk to Tate Britain, I really should cherish this 1 year study life and experience in chelsea!
TAT

PS: I'm sure most of you who red my blog went to Tate already, Please exchange some thinking and ideas, I really want to communicate with you!!!Thanks!!!
